hot chocolate @ the coffee bean & tea leaf

Disgusting. No need to remind me, I'll remember.

The first thing I noticed was the froth on top, which I never appreciate in a drink but can manage to forgive. But then after the first sip, the whole thing was unforgivable. There's little more I can say about it besides that it tasted a lot like skimmed milk, with barely a hint of chocolate.

After the first sip, all I could do was bear it, hoping that the next sip would be better. It only got worse, and before the mug was even half-empty, I gave up.

It's no exaggeration at all when I say that I've enjoyed warm water more.

Price: If they gave it away free I still wouldn't drink it.

black-out cake @ the coffee bean & tea leaf

Remind me, I like.

The first thing you notice is the rich, inescapable dark chocolate that finds its way to every corner of your mouth. It's one of the best kind of chocolate I've tasted on a cake. The cake itself is moist, smooth, its two layers separated by a little layer of the same dark chocolate on the outside. Rather than the chocolate matching the cake, the cake matches the chocolate.

The downside, if any, is that I cannot handle the tiny cake alone. The chocolate is a little too rich, too strong, that there is not enough cake on the inside to give enough body to the flavor. And so the cake is best shared by two, over some coffee or hot chocolate, and a nice hearty conversation.

fetuccini carbonara @ the french baker

Remind me, I don't like.

It's all about the sauce. It had a dry sort of creaminess, nicely coating each strand of the al dente fetuccini but annoyingly sticking to the insides of my cheeks. It was bland, and halfway through the healthy serving I needed to wash out my mouth with some soda lest I puke.

My friend's maid made better Carbonara. I'm still asking for the recipe.

Do I like kare-kare?

A lot of the times I eat with my girlfriend I ask her about the food.

"What's that?"

"Kare-kare."

"Have I tried it?"

"Yes, once, in Megamall."

"Did I like it?"

And she would answer yes I did or no I didn't, and I'd take a mental note and forget it a minute later. Sometimes, in the middle of a cookie or a cold chocolate drink I'd tell her, "Zee, remind me, I like the food here."

A few hours ago I asked her again whether I liked the chocolate eclair at Postrio and I realized that I should just take notes myself, instead of having to ask her every single time. I mentioned it to her, she said definitely, and so here I am.

In No Uncertain Terms is a review of the things I like, the things I don't like, and the things I must note to try again if given the chance, in order to make a better decision. I will review restaurants, dishes, drinks, shops, malls, public transportation, government officials, movies, music, books, graphic novels, companies, celebrities, nobodies, porn stars (?), janitors, and the cashier at the local fast food store.

This is a review of life, in no uncertain terms.
